Rising Stars is meant to be a series of exhibitions featuring the rising stars among young artists.

In the premier, Rising Stars Vol. 1, you will discover a surprising performance/ installation piece by Scull-Hons, Kang’s technically and conceptually compelling “photography-sculptures” and new objects and drawings dealing with African-American issues by Pruitt. In pure Hollywood tradition there will, of course, be works on video media by all three artists.

Leona Scull-Hons, Young-Min Kang and Robert Pruitt have not much in common except being recent MFA graduates of the UT Fine Arts School and the exceptional quality and originality of their work.

Quality and diversity have the conceptual priority in this show. It is therefore left to the viewer to establish the links between the works exposed and thus lift the concept to another level in dialog with the works, the artists and other viewers.

The artists, curator and gallery owner will be present at the opening.

Till Richter,
Curator & Art Historian

Studio 107 was created to establish a dialogue among contemporary artists and to introduce contemporary art to more of Austin.

The works shown at Studio107 are edgy, contemporary, humorous, and technically excellent in execution, concept, implication or all three. The artists who show in this space are dedicated to producing high quality art even if it means late nights after a hard day's work somewhere else. They strive to challenge their peers to achieve a higher level of perception.
