Upon first glance, these images may appear to be solely about texture and form; however, my experience with the creation of this series has been much more than that. It has been an exploration of how we define boundaries and choose to view ourselves; a study of interaction as well as self-reflection.
We are all bound in some form or another; bound by responsibilities, relationships or ideas of self. These "tethers" may have been made by choice or inadvertently thrust upon us. This notion of restraint can evoke very different emotions for each individual. Being confined can feel secure, constrictive or liberating, just as being released from those ties can either invigorate or induce a sense of loss. What are you bound or obligated by? Do you appreciate this aspect of your life, revel in its security; or do you long to be free and unfettered by these notions?

To be released from anything will leave a lasting impression, whether it’s one that fades with time or one that you wear always. There is immense value in reflecting upon the impressions these experiences have left upon you, how they have shaped you into the person you are today. Understanding how we truly feel, why we feel that way and where we stand builds confidence, character and provides a greater knowledge of how we define ourselves.
