This series of images was created to illustrate people’s idiosyncrasies in an interactive and tangible realm. Though idiosyncrasies are mostly thought of as a manner of peculiar thinking or preferences, I wanted to focus more on the aspect that included actual characteristics or physicality of someone’s own idiosyncrasy. In order to capture the physical features of a mental concept I decided to display these idiosyncrasies as larger than life objects, something that the people could interact with on a scale unfamiliar to them. I wanted to present images of artifacts that in normalcy are small or non-existent physically, and then give them a new form in the two-dimensional world that had been previously unavailable. The size of the new objects reflects the size of their importance in the individuals’ minds, though none of them are, in fact, anywhere near the size they appear to be. |
